International Chefs Day is celebrated by millions of chefs around the globe on October 20 every year since the year 2004.This day is a symbol of reiteration of commitment and dedication of chefs towards their profession.
In Pakistan the Chefs' Association of Pakistan (CAP) has established the tradition of celebrating the International Chefs Day. The Chefs' Association of Pakistan (CAP) in association with the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) celebrated the International Chefs Day on October 20, 2010 at the College of Tourism & Hotel Management, Lahore. On this exclusive celebration of international significance the chefs from hotels, restaurants, cafes, clubs, and catering companies from all over Pakistan started gathering at the venue of the event at 03pm. Dressed in white uniform and wearing a typical chef cap the chefs created a unique ambience at the venue. Their gleaming, smiling faces reflected the self-confidence, dignity and pride about their profession.

Objectives

    • Develop and promote "Ethnic Pakistani Cuisine" locally and internationally.
    • Promote & Develop Culinary Arts Education in Pakistan.
    • Recruiting and training of young Males and Females to increase professional standards within the industry in Pakistan.
    • Provide qualified & trained human resource to the hotel and restaurant industry in Pakistan.
    • Collaborate with WACS to work on issues of global significance like food safety and hygiene, food waste control and going green through education , training and professional development
    • Promote cooking, recipes, high quality products and technical knowledge through training workshops and seminars.
    • Motivate the government, NGOs, Private Sector to extend technical and financial support to the association for human resource development Lobbying with the Policy making Government Organizations to bring about positive changes in the work environment of the chefs and address issues relating to the health and safety.
    • Sponsor professional exchanges locally and internationally
    • Arrange food festivals, national / international culinary competitions
    • Cooperate with various professional bodies and educational establishments, related vocational links, namely USAID, Aga Khan Foundation, UNDP, NAVTEC, World Bank, ILO, Lead Pakistan and such other organizations to introduce training courses and apprenticeship schemes .
